MOSCOW
(Sputnik) — More than 2,000 paratroopers will practice parachute jumps
in four regions of the country during scheduled exercises on January 20,
the Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday.
Paratroopers will simultaneously jump out of Il-76 (NATO reporting
name: Candid) planes. Some 20 aircraft from the Russian Aerospace Troops
will be used in the exercises.
Last month, the Airborne Forces announced that some 5,000 paratroopers would practice parachute jumps across Russia in January in over 300 flights.
"The paratroopers will carry out simultaneous
jumps in four different constituent entities of Russia. The mass
Airborne Forces airdrop will be carried out using D-10 parachute systems
and Arbalet-2 special purpose parachute systems," the statement said.
